About Me

Although I was the pickiest of picky eaters as a child, growing up in Toronto meant I couldn't avoid all the delicious international foods around me. Occasional experimentation with cooking and eating out turned into love, and that, I'm afraid to say, has turned into an obsession. I should have known I was on the road to perdition when I acquired the nickname "The Queen of Snacks," due to my penchant for buying strange foreign nibbles at ethnic grocery stores.

I began this blog as a space to record my attempts at my native Romanian cuisine, but the truth is that I'm far too curious and insatiable to limit myself to the food of one country. So while you will find my attempts at salata de vinete and chiftele, you'll also find curry experiments, restaurant memories, musings on place, reports on cookbooks and food writing I love (or don't), and occasional disastrous attempts at repurposing leftovers or cooking out of the pantry.

To get in touch with me, leave me your comments below... and pofta buna!
